Only 1 month before the biggest conference in university-industry innovation

With close to 300 attendees, representing more than 50 countries, the University-Industry Interaction Conference is the largest event in the area of facilitating interaction and creating cooperation between universities and business. The 2013 University-Industry Interaction Conference will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 28th and 29th of May and will have a special focus on “challenges and solutions for fostering entrepreneurial universities and collaborative innovation”. The conference will be an international discussion forum for academics, technology transfer professionals, industry representatives, entrepreneurs and policy makers, where theory and practice are equally emphasised in the programme.

Discussion Panels and University-Industry Challenges

Through discussion panels several key experts, together with the conference participants, will address challenges in university-industry interaction. Each discussion panel will evolve around one of the stakeholders in university-industry interaction:

  • Networks and Associations
  • Intermediaries

High-Profile Keynote and Journals Confirmed as University-Industry Interaction Conference Hits Overdrive

With just 1 week left before the early-bird deadline finishes, we are proud to inform you of the extensive preliminary conference program, the confirmation of the last keynote speaker and the high interest and world-wide coverage of the conference. With over 160 registrations from 28 countries already registered, the registration limit is being fast approached.

Get set to join over 200 academics, technology transfer professionals, industry representatives, entrepreneurs and policy makers and engage in a rich dialogue over two days at the 2013 University-Industry Interaction Conference in Amsterdam. Dutch Royal Tropical Institute opens its doors for the University-Industry Interaction Conference

The conference organisers have convinced the Dutch Royal Tropical Institute to open its doors for this unique event and allow it to take place on this unique location. The conference will take place in a historical building, deeply rooted in Dutch society, relating to the colonial period of the Netherlands.
The institute is a research centre focussed on international ,economical, and intercultural corporation, with a large emphasis on knowledge transfer. As such the institute is the perfect location for this knowledge exchange event, allowing the participants to truly foster entrepreneurial universities and collaborative innovation.

With tram 9, 10 and 14 the institute can be accessed from different directions and offers a direct connection to Amsterdam Central Station.

  • Dr. Laurent Mieville - Former President of ASTP (Association of European Science & Technology Transfer Professionals) and author of the book "From Science to Business"

Keynote speakers confirmed

The conference organisers are happy to announce that the first keynote speakers have been confirmed. Representing some of the largest organisations worldwide in the area of University-Industry Interaction, the following speakers have confirmed their keynote speech:
  • Philippe Vanrie, as CEO of the European Business Network he represents Europe’s largest network of businesses and incubators.
  • Dr. David Docherty, as CEO of the Council for Industry and Higher Education, he is leading one of the outcomes of the Wilson review, a UK council to connect Industry and Higher Education.
  • Lucia Recalde Langarica, in her position of Head of Unit “European Institute of Technology” at the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission, Lucia has initiated many studies in the area of University-Business Cooperation and economic partnerships.

Targeting all those active in the field of university-industry, with an interest in this topic, both from theory and practice, we are inviting you to submit your abstract for your presentation, paper, workshop, track or poster and attend the 2013 University-Industry Innovation Conference. Please submit your abstract using the website's submission form and visit the call section for more information.


Conference Cafe

Conference Café, an initiative of the organisers, allows the attendees to communicate prior to the conference, ask questions, send feedback, contact other attendees and print the list of attendees. Once you have registered for the conference, you can access the Conference Café in the members area.


Conference dates fixed

Today, UIIN and Free University Amsterdam agreed on the conference dates. Starting on Monday 27th May, 2013 with a PhD workshop, as well as pre-conference workshops, the conference will take place on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th of May. The conference event closes with a social event on Saturday morning leaving participants the option to spend some more days over the weekend in Amsterdam.
